Mom Expects To Bury ‘Bright Red’ Baby. 20 Years Later, Doctors Can’t Believe What She Looks Like

Rog and Tina Thomas met in Hong Kong, quickly got engaged and married within five months. They knew they wanted kids, but not quite yet — but then social services introduced them to a baby girl named Mui.

Baby Mui was abandoned by her birth mother, and thought she looked different from other babies, Rog and Tina instantly fell in love.

However, Mui was suffering from a mysterious condition and doctors said her health was quickly declining. But Rog and Tina refused to walk away from her and adopted her when she was three years old.

For years, the threat of Mui dying hung over their heads. But this incredible girl gradually rallied.

In 2002, Mui was finally diagnosed with harlequin itchyosis, a rare genetic skin disease that causes her to shed the same amount of skin overnight that most people do in two weeks, leaving her skin raw and bright red, and easily prone to infection.

When Mui entered middle school, her classmates began bullying her relentlessly over her appearance. She was constantly faced with horrible insults, shouting and screaming from peers.

But Mui was desperate to live like she was as “normal” as the other kids at school. Meanwhile, she tried blocking out the pain and avoiding treatment designed to help her. Worn down by the seemingly endless abuse, Mui contemplated suicide.

Now 23 years old, Mui is the forth oldest person in the world with harlequin itchyosis — and wait until you see what she has discovered as her life-saving passion. She really has surpassed all of the doctor’s expectations in a mind-blowing way.

Please SHARE Mui’s incredible and inspiring story with your friends on Facebook.
