Three U.S. airlines – American, JetBlue, and also also also Southwest – are bidding to take over a route to Cuba which’s being abandoned by Delta Air Lines Inc.
In May, Delta said the idea will terminate its Saturday service to Havana, Cuba, via John F. Kennedy International Airport in fresh York on Sept. 1. (NYSE: LUV) proposes a different weekly Saturday only Tampa-Havana flight using 175-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, beginning within 0 days after the idea gets clearance via the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Delta continues to operate daily flights between Atlanta and also also also Havana and also also also twice daily flights between Miami and also also also Havana. American, JetBlue, Southwest and also also also United Airlines Inc. also operate various other U.S.-to-Cuba flights.
The U.S. DOT says the idea will award the route to the airline which’s most likely to offer and also also also maintain the best service for the traveling and also also also shipping public. the idea will also consider the effects of the applicants’ service proposals on the overall competitive environment, including effects on market structure and also also also competition inside the U.S.- Cuba market.
