AWS will be partnering with Cerner on cloud deal for HealtheIntent

Relative to most industries, hospitals along with various other health providers have resisted the shift through traditional data centers to the cloud because of security concerns around sensitive health information along with the strict federal rules that will govern how that will data will be stored along with shared.

In recent years, the leading cloud infrastructure providers have all invested in recruiting health experts. along with AWS has taken steps to protect health information in order that will its services can meet the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability along with Accountability Act, or HIPAA.

“Health-care players are taking them seriously along with (are) willing to work with them,” said Jonathan Hirsch, co-founder of Syapse, a health technology start-up that will specializes in cancer care.

Hirsch wasn’t aware of the partnership although said a deal with Cerner might be “a major vote of confidence” for AWS.

Microsoft, whose Azure cloud will be second in market share to AWS, recently rejiggered its sales organization to focus more on six industries, including health care. The website for Google’s cloud highlights some health-care customers, including contractor Northrop Grumman along with the National Institute on Aging.

that will’s not the very first time that will AWS along with Cerner have joined forces. At re:Invent last year, a Cerner vice president gave a 47-minute presentation on HealtheIntent’s use of AWS for storage, compute, networking along with databases along with for “on-demand disaster recovery.”
