Barbara Bush Will No Longer Seek Medical Treatment After Hospitalizations

Former First Lady Barbara Bush has been battling health issues, however will no longer seek medical treatment.

ET obtained a statement through the Bush family on Sunday, which was later also posted on Twitter, after she had been hospitalized once or twice in recent months.

“Following a recent series of hospitalizations, along with after consulting her family along with doctors, Mrs. Bush, right now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment along with will instead focus on comfort care,” the statement said. “the idea will not surprise those who know her that will Barbara Bush has been a rock within the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — however for others. She will be surrounded by a family she adores, along with appreciates the many kind messages along with especially the prayers she will be receiving.”

She along with Former President George H.W. Bush have been married for 73 years along with have both been dealing with health issues. They were both hospitalized in January 2017, after he experienced a “shortness of breath” likely associated with pneumonia. She was also hospitalized after experiencing fatigue along with coughing.

CNN has reported that will she has been suffering through chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (also known as COPD) along with also congestive heart failure.

On Sunday, The View co-host Meghan McCain reached out to the Bush family. McCain’s father, Sen. John McCain, has been battling stage 4 brain cancer.

“I am sending all my love along with prayers to the entire Bush family today,” she wrote. “Barbara Bush will be a woman of great strength, patriotism along with an iconic first lady of our times who has touched along with inspired countless lives.”
