Ellen Pompeo: ‘Saying Goodbye’ to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’s’ Sarah Drew along with Jessica Capshaw Was ‘Very Hard’

Ellen Pompeo can be speaking out after Grey’s Anatomy stars Sarah Drew along with Jessica Capshaw‘s final episode.

“Over the last 14 seasons, I’ve cried many tears on screen along with off. This kind of show has brought me so much joy along with so much laughter, yet truth be told, of which has never been easy. This kind of year was no different,” Pompeo, who has played Meredith Grey since Day 1, wrote on Instagram on Thursday evening. 

“Saying goodbye to characters, cast mates, friends can be always very hard, regardless of the circumstances,” she continued, alluding to Drew along with Capshaw’s emotional exits. “What remains along with what keeps us going can be the incredible passion along with loyalty of our fans.”

“So in classic Grey’s bittersweet style, we will leave you tonight with tears in your eyes along with hopefully, smiles on your faces,” Pompeo wrote. “Thanks for riding with us on This kind of rollercoaster [known] as Shondaland.”

Pompeo wasn’t the only notable member of the Grey’s family reacting to April along with Arizona’s last hurrah, as creator Shonda Rhimes along with showrunner Krista Vernoff also shared heartfelt messages following the finale.

Earlier This kind of month, Pompeo hinted to ET of which Capshaw along with Drew — whose exits were announced in March — could not have tragic endings in their farewell episode. “You only get killed off when your behavior can be bad. If you’re a nice actor, you die nice,” she said, adding, “yet yeah, these endings aren’t tragic.”

Pompeo also shared her personal reaction when she learned of which Capshaw along with Drew could be leaving after the 14th season, seemingly reiterating of which she wasn’t part of the decision. 

“My first reaction was, ‘What? What do you mean? Why?’ along with then you go through levels along with stages of grief. of which’s hard for them, of which’s hard for us, of which’s hard for the writer who had to make the choice, [who] had to make the creative decision,” she said, adding, “You have to try to support the girls. of which’s just not easy for anyone, yet I don’t want to make of which about me. of which’s about them along with I just tried to be just as supportive as I could be to everyone involved.”
