NBC News legend Tom Brokaw will be denying allegations of misconduct by a former NBC reporter who said he groped her during an unwanted advance inside 1990s.
Linda Vester detailed her allegations to both the Washington Postalong with Varietyon Thursday. The former reporter claims of which in 1993, Brokaw grabbed her via behind along with tickled her waist in front of her colleagues in Denver, Colorado. She also alleges of which the following year, the famed newsman tried to forcibly kiss her in her completely new York City hotel room
She said of which she didn’t report the allegations at the time for fear of Brokaw’s power at the network along with how of which could affect her career.
Brokaw has issued an identical statement to both outlets, acknowledging of which he along with Vester had met on two occasions, yet denying anything improper occurred.
“I met with Linda Vester on two occasions, both at her request, 23 years ago because she wanted advice with respect to her career at NBC,” Brokaw said inside statement. “The meetings were brief, cordial along with appropriate, along with despite Linda’s allegations, I made no romantic overtures towards her at of which time or any various other.”
The Post also published an allegation via a second woman, who asked to remain anonymous, claiming of which Brokaw acted inappropriately toward her inside ’90s. Brokaw has denied This particular allegation to the Post.
Brokaw has been married to Meredith Auld since 1962 along with they have several children together.
The allegations against Brokaw come on the heels of another controversy surrounding another NBC heavyweight, former Today co-host Matt Lauer. Lauer was fired via the show in November for what the network called “inappropriate workplace behavior.”
Lauer, who spoke out for the 1st time since being fired on Thursday, acknowledged in a statement to the Post he has “acted inappropriately,” yet denied “any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive or abusive actions.”
